Confess What You Believe Not What You Feel

Berthena Jackson

Hi! Connect with me!

In today's episode of the She Strives With Faith Podcast, I'm going to be talking  to you about something that can seriously change the game when it comes to how you think and speak which is "confess what you beleive, not what you feel".  Let's be honest - life can throw some curveballs, and it's easy to get caught up in our feelings.  But here's the thing: what you feel in the moment isn't always the truth.  God's Word is the truth, and when you speak that truth, it has the power to shift your mindset and your cirmcumstances. By the end of this episode you'll know how to change your thinking from negativity to faith and confidence in Gods promises - I promise...this one is going to be a game-changer....lol.

Bible Verse: "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prospeerous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8)

Speaker 2:

Hello, beautiful. Ladies, welcome back to the She Strives with Faith podcast. And I am your host lady, be Celeste again. I am happy and so excited to have you here today. Now listen, are y'all ready for step number four on how to change your negative mindset to positive? You know, we're continuing on our journey on how to shift negative thinking into positive thinking. And today I am diving into step number four. So as you remember from step number three, we talked about how what you feed your mind shapes your mindset. Now, in step number four, we are going to focus on something powerful. Confess what you believe, not what you feel. Now, trust me, this step is going to help you start shifting your thinking and by the time we get to step number seven, you'll be well on your way to getting unstuck. Recognizing those negative thoughts for what they are and being able to immediately, I'm talking immediately cast them out, giving you the freedom to step into a more positive mindset. 'cause that's what we want, right? And so that we can start accomplishing all that God has for us. Because if we're stuck in stinking thinking, we're not gonna get anything done because we're going to be bombarded with anxiety and doubt and fear and second guessing ourselves. So ladies, let's go ahead and get started. Shall we confess what you believe, not what you feel we possess, what we confess. Let me say that again. We possess what we confess. We receive salvation by confessing Jesus as Lord of our lives, right? We lay hold of God's promises by speaking them aloud. That means saying them out loud so that you hear them in your ear. And when you regularly confess only what you feel or see, you are weakening your faith and allowing negative thoughts to remain. And as I said before, we're trying to get rid of those negative thoughts. Girls, you see, the fact is you might only have $29 to your name, but the truth is God is a provider and he said he will provide for our needs according to his richest and glory. So you know what you need to do? You need to confess that. You need to say that out loud so that you can hear it. You don't need to think it in your mind, say it out loud, confess it because that's what his word says. And God is not a God that he would lie. He ain't like the rest of these men and women. You know that be telling fibs no, God is a truth. He he is . He is full of truth. He is the master of truth. He created truth. Now , do you know how many times I said out loud that I could never leave my government job because I didn't have what it took to start my own business? Do you know how many times I said I can't make it by myself, I need a husband, but girl, here I am. And the truth is, I didn't believe the lie. I took those negative thoughts and turned them around by speaking God's promises over my life. I may be single, but that don't mean that I can't do things on my own. That don't mean that I can't accomplish something on my own without having a husband. That's just not true. And if you look throughout the pages of the Bible, look out, look through , um, the the lens of history, you'll see that there are many women in the Bible and there are many women outside of the Bible like today. There are women that you can look up, you can Google who have done amazing things while they were married and while they were single. So confess what you believe. Believe that you can do all things. Believe that there is nothing impossible for you that you can't accomplish with the help of the Lord. You see, women, girl, we believe all kinds of lies about ourselves. But I'm here to warn you. If you believe the lie and don't check it against what God says, guess what? You are going to stay stuck in fear and doubt and you will never reach your full potential as a woman of God. Don't you know you have power within you from the Holy Spirit? Don't you know words have power? If you don't believe what you confess, guess what? You are like a clanging symbol. Nothing but noise, but no action. James chapter two, verses 14 through 17 tells us, what good is it my brothers? If someone says he has faith but does not have works, can that faith save him? Hmm . Faith without works is dead. Just as the body without the spirit is dead. Guess what? Faith without works don't mean nothing is dead as a doorknob. So I'm here to tell you, don't let your words be empty. Let your actions back up what you say. And here's something else you must understand. I'm gonna take you back to the Bible. When God saw the world in darkness, void and without form, he didn't use his words to describe the situation. Instead he used the power of his word to change the situation. Ooh , that's good. Don't let your mouth be a thermometer that only measures your current condition. I'm gonna let that sink in. Let God's word turn your mouth into a thermostat that changes the atmosphere of your life by confessing what he says. The Lord instructed Joshua, he said, this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. That's in Joshua chapter one, verse eight. Joshua was commanded by God not just to read or study the word, but to speak it. And that's where we go wrong. We don't speak the word enough. Jesus himself did this when he was tempted by the devil in the wilderness. Oh yes, he spoke God's word to defeat the devil. God's word has power now the devil. 'cause he's the, you know, he's the the expert when it comes to lying. He's the expert. He comes to kill, steal , and destroy by whatever means necessary. And as he often does with us, he likely tempted Jesus with thoughts. But Jesus didn't simply think scripture to combat the devil's lies . He spoke scripture aloud, I'm learning to do this on my own. As a matter of fact, I don't do it enough. So again, this word is for me just like it's for you. You know, it is incredibly powerful when evil thoughts attack your mind to open your mouth and speak in line with God's word, not in line with your feelings or current circumstances. As Joel said in chapter three, verse 10, let the weak say, I am strong. Don't always speak what you feel. Ladies or your mind will stay stuck in negativity. Instead, speak God's word and let it renew your mind and transform your life baby. It is time to stop letting the enemy dictate your reality with lies and negative thoughts. When you speak God's word, your partner with you, partner with the power of heaven. Your words carry weight. They are not just noise. And when you confess what you believe and align your thoughts and actions with God's truth, you set the course for your life, girl. So I want you to speak life, speak truth, and watch God move in mighty ways. So let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for the power of your word. We confess that you are our provider, our healer, and our strength. Lord, help us to speak life over every situation, to align our words with your promises and to stand firm and faith no matter what we see with our eyes. Father, we pray that you will give us the courage to speak your truth and believe that you will do exactly what you've promised in your word as it says in Hebrews chapter 11, verse one. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. So Lord, strengthen our faith to walk by that truth. In Jesus' name, amen. So my friend, my final word of encouragement, this is it, and then I'll shut up. Believe what you confess, no matter what you see, God rewards those who believe by faith that he will do what he said he will do. So keep speaking his word and watch him fulfill his promises in your life to listen. Beautiful. Ladies, thanks for tuning in. Share this episode with a another sister friend who might need it, a sister friend, a daughter, a aunt, your mom or grandmother. Share this with them and don't listen. Don't hesitate to share this with some of the men as as well. 'cause I feel like this message can also benefit them. So I love you with the love of Jesus. Thanks again for tuning in and I'll be back again with step number five. We're almost there ladies. Bye for now.
